View from Montage, 6x8, oil on linen

I've been painting for just under 5 mo. now, and I think that this is my first 'real' painting. That is, it is mostly painterly rather than paint-by-numberish. It was done 98% on location with tiny tweaks such as painting the foam and some highlights done at home. In the long run, I am aiming toward stronger and more direct, but this is where I am today.

  1. Synaesthesia rocks. Disney's best movie. I hear all kind of sounds with the movement of those Dancing Mushrooms. Especially when I'm on Mushrooms. Painting is amazing for 5 months in... Remember to post at lots of blogs, that's how you get traffic.

  2. Wm, thank you and thank you I will. Wasn't the film supposed to originally been all abstract, done by Lyonel Feininger, paintings, not cartoon animation, but the deal fell through...I saw some of the pieces he had done for it at the Long Beach Museum of Art once. I won't ask what kind of sounds you hear...

  3. I hear the water splash around the rocks; I feel the salty mist upon my cheeks as I look across the blue liquid horizon. The woman was lost in the moment.

  4. Nice painting. I'm also new to blogging and it's been fun just to see what others are doing out there. I have learned a lot from the people I watch and they are very nice. Welcome.
